Why did I write this book?
Over a decade ago, three years into my marriage, our relationship was almost over and I blamed myself for almost destroying it.
I had fallen for another man - someone I worked with. I had been living in an emotionally barren marriage, with a very distant husband. I felt like my life was over as I had broken my husband's heart. My heart was broken too.
That was the last of many mistakes I had already made in my marriage. I was determined to make my marriage passionate, full and loving.
Why had my marriage gone so far off the tracks in only three years? Well, I had broken the marriage rules. Yet, I didn't know what the rules for staying happily married were!
When I got married everyone said: "You have to work at marriage." But I didn't know what that meant.
When my marriage was at its worst, I sat down with my tears, regret and depression, and made a commitment to change my marriage.
I needed to make rules for myself, rules that happily married couples already followed, and use this strategy to not only be happily married again, but to stay that way.
The marriage rules I created are the basis for the steps in this book. I have followed these rules for the past decade of my married life and I feel closer to my husband with every passing year.
I can't imagine being in a more perfect marriage, or being more in love with him than I am today. Naturally, I am passionate about helping others who are struggling with their marriages.
These rules have completely turned my own failing marriage into a passionate and loving union again. They have also enriched the marriages of many couples since.
